And Elko
is not only connected to the world, but an influential part of our region
and Nevada
Our location and history promote one of the most unique lifestyles in America. We celebrate the outdoors and each season is robust. Here you can choose to get involved in a photography or fly fishing class, a yoga studio, earn your plane or hot air balloon pilot’s license, take college course, or “get away from it all” by hiking in the Ruby Mountains (“The Rubies”) to a secluded alpine lake, go skiing in Sun Valley, Squaw Valley, or Park City, or grab a quick flight to anywhere from our impressive regional airport terminal. We offer an environment for children where they feel comfortable enough to leave their bikes unlocked at their bus stops each day, while they grow up in excellent schools and programs that include recreation and sports to dance studios.
As the “hub” of an extremely large region (Elko County is the 4th largest county in size in the continental US), Elko is the County Seat and center of business activity and industry, our Northeast Nevada Regional Medical Center is the healthcare hub, education (Great Basin College is here), entertainment, gaming, restaurants, festivals, retail shopping and grocers. What is not here can be accessed via a traffic-free drive, while the Internet (our entire city is Wi-Fi) is growing more convenient regarding purchasing almost any specialty product.

The Ruby Mountains and open spaces of our
region dominate our landscape and promote peace of mind,
and draw artists of all disciplines as well as outdoors sportsmen.

A night out with friends at Duncan Little Creek Wine Bar, and dinner at the Star Restaurant – the wait is worth it!
While this section is devoted to sharing how we live and what you can look forward to as our future neighbor, we also hope you see how much we love living in Elko and how well you and your family will be welcomed! You will notice the unique fellowship that exists among Elkoans – it is not just a wonderful community, but your friends and family will want to visit often! Isn’t it great to live and work in a place where people are friendly!
More Neighbors and Friends: Our neighbors come from across the United States with different perspectives and talents, and they love living in our amazing part of the world! There’s truly no place like Elko!

Specialty downtown stores and grocers, major
retailers, and yummy local restaurants are aplenty!
And while
Elko doesn’t host a Macy’s, we’ll show you were it is, and where
else we drive to shop –
including taking “weekenders” to Salt
Lake City and Gateway Mall (above)!

An event every day? It almost seems that way
in Elko. You’ll be surprised at our huge list of things to
do
and the quality of our festivals, such as our Annual Basque Festival
